Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about the faces behind Jericho Farmhouse.
Jericho Farmhouse was started out of necessity. From 1969 to June of 2018 we operated as a generational dairy farm. In March of 2018 we received a letter from our processor telling us they could no longer take our milk since their plant was being permanently closed. We searched high and low for another buyer, however with co-ops and private processors preferring larger farms we were not able to. On June 13, 2018 we milked our last cows.
All of our farm was dedicated to housing and feeding our dairy cows, so once we no longer had any to feed, the question became, “What kind of farmers are we?” We knew we wanted to keep farming and we knew we wanted to save the land that we currently owned.
We decided on a 3 phase approach. We would open an ice cream trailer in June of 2019, followed by an on-farm market and ice cream shop, and then, if the market was right, we would go back to milking but would process our milk ourselves.
Here is where you come in. You are coming in, right in the middle. You are apart of the journey. We have successfully accomplished phase 1 with the trailer booked most weekends for festivals and booked most weekdays with school celebrations or businesses giving their employee’s a treat. Phase 2 was opened on May 1, 2021. We are in our first season with the on-farm market and ice cream shop. We are open to any suggestions or ideas.
We are here to keep farming and saving the land for future generations, but we are also here to build community. We want our community to be just as much apart of our process as anyone. We want to be a place where you, your significant other, your children, your families, and your friends spend your summers. We want to be a part of your memories.
Hope to see you at the farm soon.

Meet Our Girls
While some of our girls had to find new homes, we have been able to keep a few until they have babies or we find some gracious area farmers who have taken them in to milk them.
