Introducing the Nash Family.

Here at Jericho Farmhouse one of our founding principles is to use as many local goods as we can. We want to be a place that not only provides a place for us to sell our product but also gives other farmers a place to sell theirs.

When we started making our own ice cream, which seems like forever ago, back in April, we knew we wanted to partner with small family farms to make our small batch, homemade, hand-dipped ice cream. We wanted to take the fruits and vegetables (you read that right….there will be some veggies coming to ice cream soon) they grew and turn it into something so spectacular.

Enter, the Nash family.

I met Jillian Nash fresh out of college when I was hired at my first job. We hit it off right away. We both came from farm families, we both wanted to own a farm at some point, and it helped that we were currently in the same phase in life. I was single and she was recently married. We worked together for a year, and when I went off to the next chapter we continued to stay friends.

Fast forward 8-9 years, I married the man I told them I wasn’t interested in and had three children. Jillian had bought a farm and had two little boys of her own. I reached out to her because I knew she was growing vegetables and knew we needed some for the store. As luck would have it, she also had strawberries. We were in desperate need of strawberries because everyone in our county had already sold out or the berries were promised to people. Jillian was ready with as much as I needed to make our fresh strawberry ice cream.

The Nash’s are building their vegetable and fruit farm with the hope that one parent can come home with the boys and farm full-time. We hope to be able to help get them there with us purchasing fruits and vegetables for our products and also to sell directly to our customers.
